Ask and Ye Shall Receive

So I mentioned something in one of my previous posts about not having much time for Kendall and I to be alone. I don't think my mom really even looks at my blog much since she just has dial up, but a few days later she called and said that her and my dad wanted to take the kids for a night so we could go to dinner and get our free meal. So last Friday night we did just that. We got the kids all ready to go to Grandma's. I fed Sadi right before we left and we drove the hour and a half to Princeton to get our free meal and back. So here's the story of the free meal: We went to this restaurant to meet some family members who were moving and Kendall decided to try their Beefeater's Challenge. You eat a salad, baked potato, piece of Texas toast and a 40 ounce steak (That's 2 1/2 pounds!) in 1 1/4 hours. If you eat it all they give you a medal which you can bring back and cash in for a free steak meal. We weren't sure if he'd make it when they brought out what looked like enough steak to feed an army of missionaries, but he did it. Here's the medal.

So back to the weekend. We got our very quiet meal and drove home without a single interruption. It was lovely!! We had to pick up Mercedes, but Avri and Talmage stayed overnight at Grandma and Grandpa's and so we went home and had a very quiet night as well! In the morning we slept all the way until 8:30!! Hooray! And then we got almost all the rest of the pictures hung. So a post will be soon in coming of the tour of our new house. I sort of forgot, and now I just need to clean up so I can take the pictures. Anyway, it was a fantastic evening. It's amazing how much more you love your children when you get away from them. Four full hours of only Kendall was great. We had a lot of fun just catching up with each other.

I can totally relate to that! You want time alone, but then you spend the whole time talking about and missing the kids! :) The joys of being a parent.
