Weekend Getaway

Kendall took me on a wonderful mini-vacation this weekend to Nauvoo. My parents took the kids Friday night and Kendall and I drove over to Nauvoo, making a stop for some much craved Chinese food, and we stayed in a nice hotel that night that was just a few blocks away from the temple. We swam in the pool, sat in the hot tub, and watched a movie in the room with some popcorn and other goodies. It was quiet and heavenly.
Saturday morning was our ward temple trip, but since we stayed overnight we got up and went to the temple a bit earlier than the rest of the ward was due to show up. We had a wonderful time at the temple, it was so relaxing! Then we came home to get the kids from Grandma's and Grandpa's. Even the drive was nice since we had 4 or 5 hours without children to just visit and enjoy each other's company. It was a PERFECT weekend. I didn't realize how much I needed a break until I got back and could feel the difference.

The kids had as much fun as we did staying with Grandma and Grandpa. They all went to the movies and out to dinner at McDonald's. And even just sleeping was fun since it was somewhere different. They got teddy bear-shaped pancakes for breakfast and got to color and all sorts of things.

That is so lovely. I never think of just taking a "day trip" kind of date. You so deserved it. Good job Kendall being a good husband.

It makes me cry to think of how nice that must have been - because it was surely deserved by you and Kendall. Good for you for finding a time to do it!
