Ballet Recital

Avri had her very first ballet recital last weekend. She was really nervous about it, but didn't really want to admit that she was nervous until after it was over. I think it was a good experience for her to be on stage and perform and she felt good about it when it was all over.

Avri was a little behind everyone else during the recital, which she didn't do during practice. She was just being really timid. But I was so proud of her!
Avri has been very conscious of modesty lately and this costume REALLY upset her. It was a fight all week about it and she kept saying it was so ugly because it wasn't modest. She told her teacher that it wasn't modest and she wanted to wear a sweater. So they compromised and Avri got to wear the sweater for all of the rehearsals and after the show, but not during the performance. I was really proud of her for standing up for what she thought was right. Good girl, Avri!
She looks so sad. I think this is how she handled her nerves. She actually looks almost short in her class, but that is because it is supposed to be a class for ages 6-11 and she is still 5.
We all went to Steak and Shake for shakes after the performance. The kids loved that.
